RACHEL LOUISE BROWN
FOR
TELEGRAPH LUXURY

Rachel Louise Brown’s long-standing relationship with Gifford’s Circus began in 2021, when Town & Country commissioned Rachel to photograph the cast ahead of ‘The Hooley’ – the first production following the passing of the Gifford’s Circus founder, Nell Gifford. Since that moment, Rachel was completely captivated by the Circus’ special brand of magic.
To mark 25 years of Giffords Circus, Rachel proposed a fashion story to celebrate their legacy in a new light – through the pages of a national title. Telegraph Luxury was the perfect home for this vision, and with the generous support of Head of Magazines Sasha Slater, Fashion Director Tona Stell, and Casting Director George Raymond Stead – as well as the entire Giffords Circus family – Rachel and the team brought the idea to life…
Capturing a series of pieces from high-end fashion houses such as Alexander McQueen, Chanel, and Valentino, Rachel played into the statement of each piece by working with the performance-driven nature of the circus to bring her playfulness and fantasy to the designs.

Shooting amongst acrobats, fire-eaters, vintage wagons, and the iconic tent, Rachel photographed model Caren Jepkemi in the heart of Giffords. Styled with original set pieces and costumes drawn from the Circus’s rich 25-year archive, the shoot became both a tribute and a celebration of Giffords’ enchanting world – a world where fashion meets folklore..
