Felicity McCabe
Felicity McCabe’s works investigate the nature of truth, memory, time, and science, via the mediums of still life and constructed portraiture photography. Motivated by the desire to hold on to the intangible, Felicity uses her camera as an evidence gathering device. Her approach is measured, applying the same level of technical skill to make studies of her subjects, be they objects or people.
Notable projects include 42 Feet, a series made with a youth circus troupe in Ulaanbataaar, Mongolia. The young performers contort and train against the stark backdrop of the city. Felicity says, “I always find my happiest results when the outside world mirrors my studio, and sculptural bodies become my living, breathing still lives.” Adopting the same approach for Dry Land, a commission from Save The Children to raise awareness of climate change, Felicity used the textures of her subjects’ homes in Somaliland as the backdrop for her sensitively constructed photographs. She has worked with clients ranging from Apple, BAFTA, Cadbury’s, National Theatre, The New York Times, Save The Children, Sipsmith, Volkswagen, Volvo and Wallpaper*.
