Part I, begins with a journey of deeper exploration into the heart as a symbol. Using ox and lamb hearts, carefully and preciously dressed with a mix of organic and heirloom frippery, the resulting images move the object beyond the biological, harking back to Felicity’s recurrent themes of veneration and relicking of commonplace objects.
Devised and forged in collaboration with set designer and props stylist, Victoria Twyman, the images work to bring Felicity’s crafted imagery into the physical. Integrating items like pearls and jewellery, the hearts are given a richness and luxury, hinting at the idealised ideas frequently tied into their symbolism. However, there is a natural side to the images, portrayed though the flowers and foliage, alluding to the universal nature of tenderness and attachment, and the concept of the heart as both an object of human-assigned symbolism and a truly natural part of the body.

However, there is a natural side to them that is also portrayed though the flowers and foliage that act as framing and decoration. This juxtaposition of the man-made and natural explores the concept of the heart as both an object of human-assigned symbolism and a truly natural part of the body: a product of the natural evolution of the world around us.
