Luke Evans
Luke Evans is an artist working with photography and sculpture, whose work subverts perception using texture and perspective. A long-term interest in science and the natural world has influenced the core themes within Luke’s practice. Often using photography to explore physical systems and processes, he makes detailed works crafted from unlikely materials and experimental techniques. In ‘Second Nature’, Luke presents close-up landscapes that seem deceptively expansive, turning our understanding of the camera as objective ‘arbiter of truth’ on its head. In another project, ‘Inside Out’, 35mm film is digested to create a micro-biological self-portrait.
Born and raised in rural Hereford, Luke holds a degree in Graphic Design and Photography from Kingston University, with his graduating project notably the first of several bodies of work to have been acquired by Charles Saatchi, and The Saatchi Gallery. Luke has been engaged to apply his detailed approach to commissions for some of the world’s foremost brands and magazines, including Aesop, Clos19, Fenty, The Gourmand, The Harmonist, Jo Malone, Kvadrat, LVMH Group, Naim, Rimowa and Tiffany & Co.
